So I was not kidding earlier! We are turning up the evangelistic heat here at Pinnacle.
Here is how we did today:
· Student guy Joel and I made 200 touches by handing out free granola.
· We gave out small fuflu (I made that word up) bags of lotion to all the staff in the emergency room.
· Shonda opened the Hub up for an afterschool program and gave out free drinks to 20 kids and adults.
All in all it has been a pretty good day! Now on to Thursday Church tonight!
Last Thursday Nelson Searcy spent a few hours at the Hub talking about breaking growth barriers. While I soaked up everything Nelson said, one thing stood out in my mind: "Turn the heat up on evangelism". As I reflected on that statement and reviewed our current temperature level I realized that over time our outreach temperature has been falling here at the Pinnacle. So starting with me, we have made a new commitment to reaching out more in order to take people from where they are to where God wants them. I confess right now before God and anybody interested that lately I as a leader have fallen short in this area. The staff has fallen short and from where I am sitting so has our church (But hey it starts with the pastor). But starting this week that is going to change. It has to change if we are going to break our current growth barrier and reach more people for Christ. So on Sunday I'll be having a heart to heart with the staff and then on Sunday night I'll have a family talk with our key leaders and volunteers about how we are going to turn the heat up!!!!! If you are a ministry volunteer, small group leader or a ministry leader make sure you come out to dream with me about where we are going!
